somethin out of nothin

our 2nd bedroom was pretty blah. actually, it was our crap room. all the crap that we didn't know where to put or didn't want to look at, we put in there. there was no desk, only two bookshelves and a whole lot of junk everywhere. to make this transformation more grand, you have to understand that i spent weeks cleaning out junk in boxes, giving stuff away, selling stuff on craigslist, to get all our storage items to fit in the closet and not be in the room.

this is the desk we bought on craigslist for $40.painted it and decoupaged some scrapbook paper in the shelves & added a fun chalkboard to the wall. we mounted the hutch to the wall to allow more desk room.
got some cool curtains at ross... although sad i did not manage to fit our golf clubs in the closet. the other wall. the lady we bought the desk from was moving and she had this cool abstract painting. she told us her schizophrenic friend painted it and i had to have it : ) she threw it in with the desk.
okay, so now you know that we love abstract artwork. well, i was a little inspired and decided to paint one of my own. here it is in our living room.

a little wild, but we love it. and since we're renting, it was a cool (cheap) way to add a lot of color to the walls and still be able to take it with us when we move.can you tell lime green is my new favorite color? i'm already working on adding more pops of color throughout the room. fun, fun. can't wait until we have a real house someday and all my walls won't be white. imagine what we'll come up with then!
